This is the famous "deep purple Foliosa" but correctly is d foliosa x d purpurella. The photograph is of stock growing in the nursery garden. This is a good garden orchid making clumps in a short time. They will grow in a variety of soil types in both dry and damp conditions.
Mature specimens grow to a height of 80 cm with a long, thick flower head with a large number of individual flowers.
The hybrid also makes a good subject for growing in pots providing the compost is kept slightly damp at all times. These have been raised in a compost of perlite 70% and coir 30%.
Plants are sent out dormant from October to the end of March; potted to UK customers. Plants are fully checked when dispatched. Please notify me of any problems within 14 days of receipt. No refund will be made after this period.
