Spiranthes spiralis

This is known as the Autumn Lady's Tresses. It has a small tuber like a carrot and will quickly for a clump. It is native to short alkaline grass areas and where it thrives is often very numerous. Its dormancy period is in the summer from about June to September. In September as night temperatures go down and the soil becomes wetter it will put up its typical flower spike followed by the typical rosette of thick leaves.
