Orchis simia

Orchis simia
This is our native Monkey Orchid which only occurs in a few areas in the south of England. It is so named because each of the flowers looks like a miniature monkey. It grows in chalk conditions in the UK with two populations in Kent and Oxford. It is not the easiest orchid to grow as in most parts of the country it must be grown in an alpine house and if the autumn is hot and damp plants may become prone to damping off.

Plants are sent out potted in the appropriate medium, either dormant or early in growth. In this case from AUGUST to NOVEMBER. NEW STOCK JULY 2016
