This is our native Fragrant Orchid. There are two types the "Chalk Fragrant" and the neutral varient which is the one usually offered for sale. It has a small tuber with little fingers and begins growth in the early spring, flowering in June. The heavy scent attracts a range of moths including a number of hawk moths. It is an ideal addition for a garden or meadow to help attract these moths and other insects. It is important to keep the tubers cool but watered during the autumn because the tuber will absorb water and develop a good root system before the end of the year. The bud will not break through until the early spring. This is a beautiful orchid for an alpine house as its scent is very strong on a calm June evening.
Tubers are sent out to UK customers potted when they are dormant; in this case AUGUST to MARCH.
