Cypripedium reginae

Cypripedium reginae
This is one of the first cypripedium that was mass produced from seed showing how easy it is to grow. In the wild across the USA and into Canada it grows in damp areas often on the edge of bogs. This, in part is why it has very thick long roots. It bulks up well over a short period of years. It grows well in a UK garden or in a large pot and has the benefit of beginning growth late in the spring and not flowering until June/July. An ideal cypripedium for the beginner. Probably the only way to kill this one is to allow the compost to dry out. Plants are sent out potted when dormant from OCTOBER to MARCH.
